Answering this question seems tough, it has two possible outcomes.  Wall Painting or Trims Painting First? Both have the same drawback, it depends on you how you handle the painting.

If you Paint the trim first, you have the risk of spilling the paint on the wall again. Then you have to touch up again.

If you Paint the wall first, then trim paint would flow on the wall over, again and again, you need to fix the wall.

Wall Painting or Trims Painting First?

Simple answer short, I would prefer the trims first. I would carefully first paint the trims and then walls. In this, the important equipment would be Painter's tape. It would help with the safety of the walls.

The Other Answer

Trim first if:

you're using tape: Most of them use painter's tape where they don't want to get painted especially for beginners. It is easy to apply tape where there are smooth and sharp edges.  The tape is easier to apply on trim rather than applying on the walls, especially when walls are textured.

you're not using tape: This would only work with if you have mastered the painting. If you are not using tape it is easier to paint when cutting in. Most of the professional painters prefer to paint freehand that nice and clean edge which gets easier to cut in.

the room is under construction: If the room work is still going on then I would prefer to paint the trim first. Painting the walls would always be the last option.

Walls First If:

you want instant gratification: There are few people out there who want to check the paint how would it look like.

you're not committed to the wall color: You'll know that wall color is the most important thing. If the wall color turns out bad, then you would change trim color too. No sense in painting both twice.

Having the unskilled workers: If you have the workers who aren't professional then giving them to paint the walls would be a great idea. You know painting the walls require fewer skills than painting the trims.
